Intelligent Design vs Evolution

I used to think maybe our planet is just some "god"s elementary school science project. I imagine he's going to get a poor grade when he turns it in.

What we see as sadistic they might find it interesting. What we see as us polluting the earth, they might be wondering what we are going to do about it.

Maybe in that case evolution and ID regarding the planet is now in our hands. As individuals we can evolve this planet into a livable place in 100+ years. Doing little things to reduce our carbon foot-print. This is not only a practical evolution it seems to also be a philosophical one. 10 years back the only people that seemed to be vocal about green issues were middle-class hippies. Now it is being hammered home by an ex-vice-president who's family grew rich by tobacco. This is not to deride Al Gore, whom I greatly respect, but to highlight how we have all moved forward towards thinking what we are putting in our trash. Thinking that the consequences of leaving a light on are greater than an increased energy bill. This is progress. It is also by default intelligent design. Humans evolving to their changing surroundings.

However, I see very little of god in this debate. Its all about us as humans. Inheriting the earth so to speak.

According to evlution, I was always under the impression that we (humans) evloved from the cave man. And they were not two diffrent species. although I don`t agree with that theory. I do believe in creation but am open to other ideas. The ID theory is something I have wondered about. Instead of a god that we all thought created us. Maybe we were created by aliens from another planet and they threw the god thing in to keep us in line. But then the question would be, who created them? There has to be a beginning. So who or what started all this? Rose

previously scientists believed that humans evolved from neaderthals, but now they've discovered that they are two completely different species that evolved from a common ancestor. the same with apes and chimpanzees and other primates. one species did not evolve from another, but they all branch out from a common ancestor. at least that's the accepted understanding of it.

i've been hearing more theories about alien interaction on earth. of course none are based on anything scientific, just mere speculation. my friend, a conspiracy theorist, believes that aliens kick-started civilization on earth and that is why we have so many ancient monuments that boggle the mind (such as stonehenge, right pete;-). i can't dismiss these theories all together, but they are not based on anything factual. the only alien theory i believe in is that life arrived on earth due to a meteorite: http://www.theregiste...

i tend to believe that we're here because the conditions are right. if you consider the dinosaurs, they thrived in their oxygen-rich world. mammals existed back then, but they mostly hid underground. after a global upheavel (due to a meteor hit and volcanic activity) the climate changed and mammals began to thrive. i do not see anything intentional behind this change. i just believe in the course of nature.

but it is interesting to speculate. nobody's beliefs should be that set in stone.

You guys look to cute and very happy. And thx Sarah for the info. You guys are just about the only ones I can share my feelings about the alien stuff without people thinking I am off my rocker (more then normal for me.) And if the cave man and human are two diffrent species,and if there was some interbreeding going on there, that would explain alot.Cuz there are alot of people out there who live like they came from the stone age with the same mantality. I'm an Atheist and if I take the time to consider how man got here, I think the big bang theory and evolution best explains it. Creationism and intelligent design just don't have enough physical proof IMO.
Possibly the source of life, with its zero intelligence, is overlooked and may possibly be the creator of life as well.

I'd love to see the proof of a big bang and evolution, because they also do not have any proof behind them...
