Exodus 20:2?17 King James Version
And God spoke all these words, saying, 1. I am the LORD thy God, which have brought thee out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage. Thou shalt have no other gods before me. Comments: a. Lord who? Why is your name forgotten all this time? b. Why did you bring the Hebrews to Egypt as slaves in the first place? c. So, there can be other gods? Did you make them also? Eliminate them! 2. Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image, or any likeness of any thing that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth. Thou shalt not bow down thyself to them, nor serve them. For I the LORD thy God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generation of them that hate me and showing mercy unto thousands of them that love me and keep my commandments. Comment: That does it! You are no God after all! I shall not serve a cruel god! How do you like that, huh? 3. Thou shalt not take the name of the LORD thy God in vain. Comment: Why, do you hurt? 4. Remember the sabbath day and keep it holy. Comment: I'm no Hebrew nor Jew. 5. Honor thy father and thy mother. Comment: Stick to their religion? 6. Thou shalt not kill. Comment: Why did the Israelites kill their enemies? 7. Thou shalt not commit adultery. Comment: What do you mean adultery? 8. Thou shalt not steal. Comment: If all men are created equal, yes. How about the poor? Stealing is as human as it is! Some do it illegally, some legally. Why is there inequity? 9. Thou shalt not bear false witness against thy neighbor. Comment: None 10. Thou shalt not covet thy neighbor's house. Thou shalt not covet thy neighbor's wife. Comment: Really? Why did the Israelites covet Canaan? And may I ask you, Moses, who told you all these? Was it an alien God or just your creative imagination? 'Ode to Moses': |

Personally,I think Moses was smoking a little too much of the burning bush...LOL ![]() |

Personally, I think Moses was smoking a little too much of the burning bush... Maybe it's a coca plant. Also, when he descended from Mt. Sinai with the tablets after forty days and forty nights with his head glowing brightly, limestone dust must have stuck to his face and hair for sculpting the Ten Commandments. |

I loved the movie....but Gilbert may have something here. Could it be that the real Moses set himself up as God?to get people to fallow him? He got alot of people to fallow him by making it look like he was getting orders from a higher power. Was he or not? Rose

He got alot of people to fallow him by making it look like he was getting orders from a higher power. Was he or not? Rose Yes, I, too, love the movie starring the late Charlton Heston. I agree with you, Rose, that Moses must have been a very wise, charismatic person with a dictatorial style of leadership. He was one of the first creative writers of note. He conjured a story about the origin of the Earth, humankind, animals and plants. He drafted all by himself a constitution, the Ten Commandments and other sub-laws for the Hebrews. He was after all educated in Egypt. Actually, if I have ill motives, I can do a Moses and found another religion. But I showed you who is God already in my posts here on Meetup. I'm not selfish, you know. All prophets and modern messiahs know fully well that there is no alien God they are getting orders from. One story I would like to share with you is about this elder who used to live with his family in a two-bedroom dwelling, which was part of a KH. There were three congregations sharing in that KH. So, of course, there were also some elders who also wanted to live in that two-bedroom unit, which was almost for free. Because the first elder and his family were living in that dwelling for five years already, the other elders banded together to eject them, so that another interested elder could take his turn. One of the elders said to the first elder, "In accordance with Jehovah's arrangement, we decided that your stay here will be only up to the end of the month." The first elder retorted, "Jehovah's arrangement? It's only you who made that one up!" referring to the elders. How did I know of that story? Because I was one of the elders who wanted to eject the guy. ![]() |

We all have seen how dangerous these self appointed gods can be. Such as Jim Jones and others like him. I believe there is a higher power but just not sure who or what he or she is up too. BTW: Gilbert did you get that elder to move?

Just like they make up trumped up conversations with the faithful and discreet slave...anything to control their masses This is the hypocrisy that I never could stomach, this is the behavior that gave me every reason in the world to free myself of the JWs! They are as bad or worse than any other religion/cult that tries to dictate and control your life through manipulation...Jim Jones...David Coresh...they are all cut from the same fabric. What is "Truth"?... well I am positive I know what it's not. ![]() |

Gilbert did you get that elder to move? Well, Rose, he finally conceded and moved out after a month. He had no choice, it was democracy at work. Majority won! Come to think of it, democracy proves the old saying "Vox populi, vox Dei," rightly or wrongly. But the ejected elder was right. It wasn't Jehovah's arrangement. It was just the decision of the majority of the elders. ![]() One of my favorites Edited by Gilbert on May 8, 2008 11:55 PM |
